Bateshwar Animal Fair (7-10 Nov 2015)

Looking for an offbeat festival to explore?

The Bateshwar Animal Fair which is the 2nd largest animal fair (after Sonepur) is happening from the 7th – 10th of November. The fair has been going on since the 1840s. It starts with the trading of animals and progresses over a period of three weeks. Over the first 10 days, the first off the block are the Bullocks, Buffaloes and Cows, followed by the Horses and Camels and ending with the Donkeys and Goats – something for everyone! Elephants were exhibited and traded here in the past but not anymore.
The ideal place for visitors to stay would be the Chambal Safari Lodge.
